Quarries Administrator - Van Diemen Quarries


Van Diemen Quarries is a family-run business that produce premium aggregates, including crushed rock, gravel, road base & sand to our clients throughout a network of quarries, strategically located throughout Tasmania.

Due to continued growth, an opportunity is now available for a highly motivated and knowledgeable Quarries Administrator to provide administrative support to the Quarries Manager and be responsible for the office, finance, HSE and weighbridge administration duties at our Breadalbane quarry site.

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm.

Responsibilities & Duties 

  • Comply with all health & safety policies and procedures
  • Answer telephones and greet clients, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors including the monitoring of activity on site
  • Manage the quarries weighbridge activities, including the support & guidance of truck drivers in the use of weighbridge
  • Manage the computer-based weighbridge system, including transactions, production, and reporting
  • Create new jobs for customers and ensure that correct processes are followed
  • Manage the accounts receivable function (AR) including invoicing, EFTPOS payments, purchase order reconciliations and customer service including investigating and resolving customer queries
  • Administer the documentation and reporting requirements of the Quarries Manager and Sales Manager
  • Deliver inductions and conduct other site compliance requirements
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our customers – written, phone and face to face

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Previous experience within a senior administration role – minimum 5 years
  • Demonstrated previous experience with accounting software
  • Knowledge and experience of AP/AR procedures
  • Knowledge and experience with weighbridge software (preferable)
  • Competent Microsoft skills and aptitude (focus on Excel)
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Good attention to detail with a high level of accuracy

  • Process driven style with strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Current drivers licence essential
